Reviewed: Laura Geller Spackle Mist

As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know-tough life). Reviewed is a series where we report on some of the best products we've tried. Whether it's a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you'll find all of our favorites in this column. Enjoy!

I've been very vocal about myВ disdain for makeup primer-it just doesn't feel good on my skin. I was set in my ways and not willing to budge on that. That is, until Laura Geller's Spackle MistВ ($32) came across my desk. I'm a Taurus, so yes, I'm stubborn, and my opinion doesn't waver all that easily. But I thought I'd give it a try in the name of honest journalism. You can't dislike an entire category of beauty products unless you've ostensivelyВ tried them all. So I threw the clear spray into my bag and vowed to try it the next morning before applying my makeup.

The first thing I noticed was how much product comes out with each spritz-I basically drowned myself in the formula. After a few sprays, I got the hang of it, though, and continued with my makeup routine. First of all, the offering is quite refreshing. It feels cool and tingly, and that is a very welcome change to my bleary-eyed morning routine. The directions read: "Apply before makeup to prime skin, after to set your look, and anytime throughout the day for an instant refresh." So that's exactly what I did.В

I was struck with how smoothly the rest of my makeup went on and how easily I could blend each step. Afterwards, I definitely noticed a difference. Without being too quick to jump ship, I was really happy with the product already. After I finished, I gave another spritz (careful to hold the bottle 8-10 inches away from my face this time as the directions suggest). It helped my usually tired-looking skin give off a dewy sheen in all the right places and had a really flawless finish.

Throughout the day, my skin felt surprisingly hydrated. I use a matte foundation, so that is not something that happens on a daily basis. The aloe vera and vitamin B5 infused in the formula is the reason it keeps your moisturized for hours, and cucumber extract is included to reduce puffiness and add that extra zing each time you spray the product.В

By the end of the day, my face looked as freshly made up as it did that morning. I was hooked. I had been setting and spraying all day to refresh my skin, and still my makeup stayed put for hours. I'm officially a primer convert-but only if it's in spray form and works as a multipurpose setting and refreshing spray as well. I give this one two very enthusiastic thumbs up.
